Several FCHS Boys Track Athletes were in action yesterday at the IHSA State Track Meet at Eastern Illinois University.

The Mules 4×200 relay team of Michael Barner, Miller Simpson, Jude Carter and Justin Johnson on broke the school record with a time of 1:33.35.  The previous record of 1:33.9 had stood for 67 years and was set in 1958 by Gary Curry, Ron Heflin, Bob Hayes and Danny Sweeny. Unfortunately the time was not quick enough to advance to Saturday’s finals

FCHS’s Justin Johnson also broke the school record in the 200m yesterday at the IHSA State Track Meet. He ran a time of 22.79. The previous record was held by a trio of Mules. Ed Doty, Ed Pack and Colton Land all ran a time of 22.94. Unfortunately Justin’s time wasn’t quick enough to advance to Saturday’s finals.

The Flora Wolves Boys Track Team also had success yesterday at the IHSA State Track. The Wolves 4x 200 relay team of Braxton Huddleston, Isaiah Keller, Nick Kimbro, Jarrett Burkett set a new school record while Jason Leib advanced to compete in the finals on Saturday in the high jump. Braxton Huddleston also placed 20th in the long jump and triple jump.

Reigning High Jump State Champion Carmi Senior Mitchel Edwards has punched his ticket to the state finals Saturday after qualifying at yesterday’s prelims. Edwards jumped 6’0″ and will attempt to repeat as the State High Jump champ
