FAIRFIELD FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO EARLY FRIDAY MORNING FIRE

 On Friday, May 30th, at approximately 2:07 am, the Fairfield Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 302 N.E. 2nd Street in Fairfield.    Upon arrival 3 minutes later, fire was observed coming from the single story residence.  Multiple attack lines were placed into service to extinguish the fire.  The main part of the fire was knocked down approximately 30 minutes after they arrived.

Firefighters remained on scene until around 6:45 am extinguishing hot spots that were difficult to get to, given the damage to the structure from the fire.

The property is a rental property owned by Terry McGaha however, it was unoccupied at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported.

The Fairfield Fire Department was assisted by the Fairfield Rural Fire Department, Wayne County EMS, the Fairfield Police Department, Wayne County 911, and Wayne-White Electric.

The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal was contacted to investigate the fire and it is still under investigation at this time.
