Gayle Carter, 69, of Mount Vernon, waived a trial by jury Tuesday in Wayne County Circuit Court and entered a guilty plea to a charge of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, a class 3 felony.
Judge Denton Aud sentenced Carter to serve 2 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, followed by 6 months of Mandatory Supervised Release. He was also ordered to pay $3345.00 in fines and court costs and was given credit for seven days spent in the Wayne County Jail.
In exchange for the guilty plea, a second charge of Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine and a 2023 charge for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine were dismissed.
Carter was returned to the Wayne County Jail pending transport to the Illinois Department of Corrections
