The Williamson County Sheriff’s Department says one person is dead following a forced entry call on Friday.
Media reports say the sheriff’s department responded to a 911 call in reference to a forced entry at a home in the 23000 block of Drake Road on Friday just before 10 a.m. A woman at the residence reportedly confronted the suspect before he ran into the woods. Authorities said they searched the area, and a K-9 officer led them to a home on Pleasant Valley Road.
The sheriff’s office reported they found a male suspect who broke into the home, and they reported the suspect had a gun which he directed at deputies. A deputy shot the suspect, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Illinois State Police were called in to assist the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office to investigate.
