U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins has announced that Emergency Livestock Relief Program (ELRP) payments are now being issued to help livestock producers recover from grazing losses caused by drought or wildfires in 2023 and 2024.
The program, mandated by Congress, will distribute up to $1 billion in assistance to eligible livestock producers. Importantly, no separate application is required. The USDA will use existing data already on file to determine eligibility and issue payments accordingly.
Livestock producers with questions about their eligibility are encouraged to contact their local Farm Service Agency (FSA) office for more information.
