ILLINOIS HFS WARNS ABOUT DATA BREACH

The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services is warning the public about a data breach.  The agency learned on February 11th that someone was conducting a phishing scam targeting HFS employees and attempting to gain access to their usernames and passwords.  As a result, one HFS employee’s emails and documents were compromised.  Information taken included customer names, social security numbers, and driver’s license or state identification card numbers.  The total number of people impacted was 933, including 564 Illinois residents.  The Department has notified those affected.
