The 2025 FCA Boys Basketball Shootout, hosted by Wayne City High School is today (Monday). Admission is $2/person for the entire day. Concessions will be available. The day will tip off at 10 a.m. with Fairfield facing off against North Clay on Court 1, Teams in Pool A—Fairfield, New Athens, North Clay, and Patoka-Odin.
Court 2 featured the schools from Pool C, including Flora, Grayville, Webber, and NCOE.
Over in the Junior High Gym (Court 3), Pool B action includes Wayne City, Red Hill, Sesser-Valier, and Thompsonville.
A devotional period at 1:00 p.m. offered players and coaches a moment of reflection and fellowship, emphasizing the Christian foundation of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes event.
Wayne City High School staff, along with local volunteers and the FCA organization, coordinate the full-day event.
BOYS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL SATURDAY:
A walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Springfield Sacred Heart Cyclones a 5-4 victory over the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes in the Class 2A State Baseball Championship Game in Champaign. The Shoes bring home the Second Place Trophy and finish the season at 30-6.
GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL SATURDAY:
After tying the game on a two-run homer in the sixth inning, Beecher went on to defeat Carterville 5-2 in ten innings in the Class 2A State Softball Championship. These two teams have been ranked at the top of the polls all season long. Carterville won the state championship last year.
