Springfield is glowing in blue and gold this week as thousands of FFA members from across the state gather for the 97th Annual Illinois FFA State Convention at the Bank of Springfield Center.
The highlight of today’s second general session is the keynote address by National FFA President Thaddeus Bergschneider, who returns to his home state to inspire the next generation of agricultural leaders. In addition to delivering the keynote, Bergschneider will participate in workshops, speak at special events, and assist with a variety of convention activities throughout the week.
As the event celebrates the leadership and achievements of Illinois FFA members, the organization is also setting its sights on the future. Illinois FFA has launched a multi-year initiative to prepare for its centennial in 2028 under the theme, “Illinois FFA at 100: Strong Roots, Bright Future.” The campaign honors a century of agricultural education, community impact, and student leadership.
Bergschneider, who served as the 2023-24 Illinois FFA President, said the centennial theme resonates personally with him and his fellow officers. Their shared motto—“Honoring those who wore, loving those who wear, and investing in those who will”—guides their work as they reflect on the enduring legacy of the FFA jacket.
One of the most anticipated events of the convention is the election of the 2025-26 Illinois FFA major state officer team. Ten exceptional FFA members are vying for leadership roles that could shape their futures—and the future of the organization.
Current Illinois FFA President Trenton Payne of the Olney FFA Chapter and Vice President Brody Will of the Dieterich FFA Chapter are leading this week’s convention alongside the rest of the state officer team, ensuring a memorable experience for all attendees.
With a strong sense of tradition and a clear vision for the future, the Illinois FFA State Convention continues to be a cornerstone event for youth in agriculture.
