Phil Maton gave up a go-ahead double to Alejandro Kirk in the tenth and was charged with the loss in relief. St. Louis is in second place in the NL Central at 36-and-30. The Cardinals send Miles Mikolas to the mound against the Jays tonight.

Former Blues Player T.J. Oshie Announces Retirement:
T.J. Oshie announced his retirement from the NHL after 16 seasons. Oshie spent his first seven seasons playing for the Blues before spending nine years with the Capitals. Oshie rose to prominence after scoring four shootout goals for Team USA in a win over Russia during the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. The Minnesota native scored 110 goals and dished out 200 assists in 443 games with the Blues.
Illini Football Adds Recruit:
The Illinois Fighting Illini football program is bolstering its 2026 recruiting class. Three-star tight end Will Vala committed to the Illini yesterday. Vala chose Illinois over the likes of Wisconsin, Purdue, and Kentucky, among others. The Illini now have a top-20 recruiting class for 2026.
Bears Begin Final Week Of OTA’s:
The Chicago Bears hit the field for the final week of OTA’s yesterday. The Bears held their first of three practices this week at Halas Hall. Chicago meets again today before wrapping up their offseason practice schedule tomorrow.
Dick Vitale Signs New Deal, To Have Hoops Tourney Named After Him:
College basketball’s most iconic voice is returning to the broadcasting booth next season. ESPN announced that Dick Vitale has signed a new contract through the 2027-28 season. The network is also launching the Dick Vitale Invitational, which will feature Duke taking on Texas in a season-opening matchup on November 4th in Charlotte. The Basketball Hall of Famer has been with ESPN since its 1979 launch and called the network’s first college basketball broadcast. The announcement was made on Vitale’s 86th birthday.
Fever Visit Dream Tonight, Clark Still Out:
The Indiana Fever are going to be without their top superstar for another game. Head coach Stephanie White has already ruled out guard Caitlin Clark for tonight’s battle against the Atlanta Dream. Clark has missed each of the last four games since suffering a quad strain.
Colts Reveal Ownership Transition:
The Colts are officially under a new generation of ownership. Indianapolis announced Monday that its ownership has been reorganized after the death of longtime owner Jim Irsay. The eldest of Irsay’s three daughters is taking over the top role. Carlie Irsay-Gordon, named owner and CEO, has been designated the principal owner. Casey Foyt will be owner and executive vice president, and Kalen Jackson will be owner and chief brand officer.
