Wayne County Circuit Judge Matt Vaughan and Edwards County Circuit Judge Brian Shinkle recently completed the New Judge Orientation Seminar in Peoria. The seminar is a mandatory five-day program required by the Illinois Supreme Court for newly elected and appointed judges to prepare them for their judicial duties.
Judge Vaughan was appointed in February 2024 following the retirement of Judge Michael Molt. Judge Shinkle was appointed earlier this year on February 10, after the tragic murder of Judge Michael Valentine on November 5, 2024.
The seminar covered topics such as court procedures, courtroom management, judicial ethics, access to justice, and judicial professionalism. The event took place from June 2nd through June 6th at the Peoria County Courthouse.
