Chicago Cubs 8, Philadelphia Phillies 4 The Cubs hit four home runs in an 8-4 win over the Phillies in Philadelphia. Ian Happ went yard twice and had three RBIs, including a go-ahead homer in the sixth inning. Dansby Swanson and Michael Busch both added solo shots. Caleb Thielbar picked up the win in relief. The Cubs are still atop the NL Central with a record of 40-and-26. Ben Brown starts for the Northsiders against Philadelphia this afternoon.

Toronto Blue Jays 10, St. Louis Cardinals 9 A late Cardinals rally fell just short during a 10-9 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays at Busch Stadium. St. Louis trailed by four entering the bottom of the ninth before Willson Contreras hit a two-out, three-run home run to get the Cardinals within a run. However, Alec Burleson grounded out to end the game. Nolan Arenado and Nolan Gorman both homered for the Cardinals, and Miles Mikolas was charged with his third loss after surrendering six runs on nine hits in five frames. St. Louis is on a three-game losing streak. The Cardinals will try to avoid being swept when they host the Toronto at Busch Stadium this afternoon. The Cardinals are in second place in the NL Central with a 36-and-31 record. Matthew Liberatore takes the mound for St. Louis today. First pitch is at 1:15PM.

The Illinois Fighting Illini football program is bolstering its 2026 recruiting class. Three-star running back Nelsyn Wheeler committed to the Illini yesterday. The Nebraska-native chose Illinois over Kansas, Michigan State, and Northwestern, among others.
