WAYNE COUNTY BOARD TO MEET THURSDAY NIGHT TO ADDRESS KEY ISSUES AND APPOINTMENTS

The Wayne County Board will meet for its regular monthly meeting on Thursday night, June 12th in the upstairs courtroom of the Wayne County Courthouse.

 

Items on the agenda include approving minutes from the May meeting. Public comment and guest appearances are scheduled, including the annual visit from Snedeker Insurance.

 

The reappointment of Dixie Locke to a five-year term as commissioner of the Wayne County Housing Authority, as recommended by the board chairman.

 

The board will also revisit old business concerning the Animal Control contract with the Humane Society, an issue that has garnered attention in recent months.

 

An update expected from the Wayne County Highway Department including:

 

A revised resolution to appropriate funds for the 2025 County Engineer salary

 

A contract of employment and approval for the 2026 County Engineer salary

 

A resolution to reappoint the County Engineer

 

Reports are also expected from the offices of the State’s Attorney, Circuit Clerk, Sheriff, County Clerk, Treasurer, Supervisor of Assessments, Coroner, and Health Department.

 

In new business, the board will discuss and potentially vote on a Sanctuary County Resolution.

 

The meeting will conclude with committee reports from several standing committees, including Claims/Finance, EMA, Animal Control, Road & Bridge, Insurance, Building & Grounds, Economic Development, Rules & Policy, and the Liquor Commission, before moving to any additional business and adjournment.

 

The meeting is open to the public and begins at 7pm.
