Wesley Gene Trout, 77, of Crossville

Wesley Gene Trout, 77, of Crossville, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. He was born on Monday, July 7, 1947, in Carmi a son of Alonzo Murdock and Clara Mae (Swafford) Trout. On December 3, 2012, he married Deborah Leigh Lambert in Carmi and together they have shared over twelve years of marriage.

Wes was retired having spent more than 35 years working for the Crossville telephone Company. He was a patriot who loved America and honorably served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. This past year Wes was able to participate in a Veterans Honor Flight to Washington D.C. alongside his daughter April. He was a member of The Carmi Church of the Nazarene, Carmi Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3851and the White County Republicans.

Wes’s heart was in public service, and he served for many years as a member of the White County Board, Crossville Village Board and the Phillips Township Cemetery Board. He enjoyed politics and attending and volunteering at various political events throughout the years. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling with family and friends. Most important to Wes was his family and spending time with them

Along with his wife Debbie Trout of Crossville, Wes is survived by his children April (Jason) Benham of Carmi, Randall (Alyson) Trout of Athens, GA; step-children, Darren Donaldson, Doug (Haley) Rodgers and Melissa (Erik) Burtis; grandchildren Andrew Benham, Connor Benham and Ryan Trout; step-grandchildren, Logan Donaldson, Abby Donaldson, Alexa Donaldson, Max Donaldson, Barrett Rodgers, Graham Rodgers, Josh Burtis and Braden Burtis; brothers, Larry (Donnita) Trout and Jerry (Diann) Trout and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Herschel Trout, Willard Trout, Delbert Trout, Mayme Wooten, Betty Lingafelter, Lonnie Trout and Lee Trout.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, in the chapel at Roberts and Cook Funeral Service 108 West Main Street, Crossville, Illinois with Pastor Dallas Robinson Officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Stokes Chapel Cemetery in Crossville. Family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wes’s memory may be made to White County Senior Citizens and will be accepted by Roberts and Cook Funeral Service who has been entrusted with the arrangements.
