By Mark Wells Jun 13, 2025 | 11:55 AM

U.S. Representative Mike Bost announced Wednesday that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is now offering low-interest federal disaster loans to Illinois residents and businesses impacted by the severe storms and flooding from April 2nd through April 6th.

The disaster declaration includes Marion County and the neighboring counties of Clay, Clinton, Jefferson, Washington, and Wayne. Those areas are eligible for both physical damage loans and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs).

“Our region was hit hard by these storms, and I’ve heard directly from folks who are struggling to recover,” Bost said. “These disaster loans will help families and small businesses repair, rebuild, and get back on their feet. I urge everyone who was affected to look into this assistance and apply as soon as possible.”

Under the SBA program:

Small businesses and private nonprofits may apply for up to $2 million to cover physical losses, including damage to real estate, equipment, and inventory.

Homeowners can seek loans of up to $500,000 to repair or replace their primary residence.

Homeowners and renters can apply for up to $100,000 for personal property losses such as furniture, vehicles, and appliances.

Applicants may also qualify for up to 20% more than the verified damages to invest in mitigation improvements like safe rooms or wind-resistant garage doors.

The deadline to apply for physical damage assistance is July 14th and the deadline for economic injury loan applications is February 17th, 2026.
