CITY OF FAIRFIELD REMINDS RESIDENTS ABOUT BUILDING PERMIT FEES

By Mark Wells Jun 18, 2025 | 5:59 AM

Planning a construction project? The City of Fairfield is reminding residents and contractors to review local permit fee requirements before starting any building work — from fences and garages to new home construction.

The permit fees are in place to help ensure that projects meet safety codes and follow zoning regulations. Here’s a breakdown of the standard residential fees:

Fences, patios, pools, and similar small projects – $50

New garages or mobile home placements – $100

New residential home construction – $200

For commercial projects, fees vary depending on the total cost of the project, while certain items like signs or portable containers carry flat rates based on their size.

Those with questions or needing help with permitting can stop by the Fairfield Zoning Office located at 121 E. Main Street, or call for assistance.

Before digging in, be sure to get your permits in order — it’s a simple step that protects both you and your investment.
