A Grayville woman is in custody at the White County Jail following a chaotic incident Wednesday afternoon. She now faces multiple charges stemming from an alleged battery and violent behavior toward police.

Grayville Police Chief Mason Siegel responded to a report of a battery just after 11:30 a.m. on Spring Street. Upon arrival, Siegel spoke with both Alyssa Brown and John Kissee. He asked Brown to wait in the back of his squad truck while he interviewed Kissee, who appeared to have a fresh injury.

While speaking with Kissee, Siegel reported hearing loud banging from his vehicle. He returned to find Brown aggressively striking the window. After assessing the situation, Siegel determined Brown to be the primary aggressor and attempted to place her under arrest.

According to the report, Brown became increasingly agitated, struck the patrol vehicle, tried to flee, and even bit the side of Chief Siegel’s boot during the arrest. On the way to the White County Jail, she reportedly repeatedly struck her head against the partition separating her from the officer.

Brown now faces charges of Obstructing a Peace Officer and Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer.

She is also scheduled to appear in Edwards County court Friday on an unrelated Delivery of Methamphetamine charge from February 20, 2024.
