49-year-ol Jeremy L. Tucker of Fairfield, has filed a motion seeking a reduction of his 14-year prison sentence stemming from a 2023 drunk driving crash that claimed the life of 15-year-old RE Carter, also of Fairfield.
The fatal crash occurred on June 5th, 2023, when the truck Tucker was driving collided with Carter’s dirt bike south of Fairfield. Tucker is currently serving his sentence at the state prison in Centralia.
In a handwritten motion submitted to the court, Tucker claims that Judge Denton Aud did not consider testimony or letters presented in his favor as mitigating factors during sentencing. He also alleges he was misled into accepting a plea deal, stating he was unaware that methamphetamine-related charges—reportedly agreed to be dismissed—would still be considered in aggravation.
Tucker further contends that the testimony about the drug charges, which he believed were to be dropped as part of the plea agreement, unfairly influenced the court and led to what he describes as an excessive sentence.
In addition to the motion for sentence reduction, Tucker has also filed a separate motion to withdraw his guilty plea. A status hearing on both matters has been scheduled for August 12th in Wayne County Circuit Court.
