By Mark Wells Jun 24, 2025 | 11:58 AM

Glenn Poshard will present a unique blend of poetry and song during a special cultural event on Sunday, June 22nd at 2 p.m. at the Varsity Theater in Carbondale. The event, titled The Poshard Poetry Tour: Beginnings and Endings, is free to attend, with donations accepted to support local food pantries.

During the one-hour program, Poshard will read selections of his own poetry alongside works from some of his favorite poets. The reading centers around themes of life’s beginnings and endings, evoking deep emotional responses and prompting reflection on powerful topics such as love, faith, courage, passion, and mortality. Complemented by musical performances, the event promises a moving experience for attendees.

This event is part of Poshard’s broader mission to combat hunger in southern and central Illinois. With a goal of raising $500,000 by Christmas, all proceeds will go toward purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables for children in need.
