FCHS BOARD APPROVES BUDGET, SPEECH TEAM, AND STAFF HIRES DURING JUNE MEETING

The Fairfield Community High School Board of Education held its regular meeting Monday night, preceded by a public hearing on the amended FY25 budget. No public comments were received during the hearing.  The board unanimously approved the amended fiscal year 2025 budget and transferred $250,000  from Working Cash to Operations & Maintenance Fund to support ongoing facility needs.

 

The board approved a $177,500 contract with Baysinger Architects for an ADA improvement project and a new 3-year contract with Bushue HR, Inc. for fiscal years 2026–2028.

 

The board approved the Model Dual Credit Agreement with Frontier Community College for Fall 2025 through Spring 2027 and a 5-year lease was approved for a 2025 Thomas 65-passenger school bus from Midwest Bus Sales.

 

 

The board approved the opt-out process for the College and Career Pathway Endorsement and FY26 Risk Management Plan

 

Following a presentation by students Grady Simpson and Addi Lafikas, the board approved the formation of a new Speech Team.

 

A 4% salary increase for non-certified district employees was approved for FY26 and in personnel changes, resignations were accepted from Tiffany Lyons and Donna Reever as Student Council Sponsors.  The board approved new hires including:

 

Rhiannon Bridgeman – Student Council Sponsor

 

Shelby Benskin and Meghan Pearce – Class of 2029 Sponsors

 

Nichole Brach – Individual Aide

 

Jeremy Kunce and Brandon Hallam – Full-Time Bus Drivers

 

Zane McMeen – Substitute Bus Driver

 

A motion to approve Press Policy Issue 118 died due to lack of a motion.

 

Student Focus was presented by Grady Simpson, Addi Lafikas, Donna Reever, and Roberta Biggs. Grady highlighted his election as Illinois Student Council President, and both students advocated for the new Speech Team that was approved by the school board.
