Five individuals sustained serious burn injuries in a house fire that broke out early this (Thursday) morning in Carmi.
The fire was reported shortly after 6 a.m. in the 800 block of Maple Street, prompting a rapid response from multiple fire departments and emergency personnel. Two medical helicopters were dispatched to the scene, and at least one victim was airlifted for advanced medical treatment.
Several ambulances were also on site as crews worked to control the blaze and tend to the injured.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
