Chicago Cubs 8, St. Louis Cardinals 0 The St. Louis Cardinals managed just four hits in an 8-0 loss to the Chicago Cubs at Busch Stadium. Erick Fedde was charged with his seventh loss after surrendering seven runs on eight hits in three-and-two-thirds innings. St. Louis is in third place in the NL Central at 44-and-37. Andre Pallante starts for the Cards against Chicago this afternoon. Matthew Boyd allowed just three hits over six innings while the bullpen surrendered only one more hit over the final three frames. Ian Happ slugged a lead-off homer, while Kyle Tucker and Reese McGuire also went deep. The Cubs are in first place in the NL Central at 47-and-33. Shota Imanaga starts for Chicago against St. Louis this afternoon. In other club news, the Cardinals placed outfielder Jordan Walker on the ten-day injured list yesterday.

Chicago White Sox Fan Banned Indefinitely:
(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago White Sox are indefinitely banning a 22-year-old fan from Rate Field after he shouted inappropriate heckles at an Arizona Diamondbacks infielder. In the seventh inning of the White Sox loss to Arizona on Tuesday, the Chicago fan began taunting Ketel Marte, referencing the All-Star’s late mother. Marte’s mother was killed in a car accident in 2017 in the Dominican Republic. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo requested the fan be ejected from the stands.
NBA Draft Recap:
(Brooklyn, NY) — The first round of the 2025 NBA Draft is in the books. The Dallas Mavericks selected Duke star Cooper Flagg with the first overall pick. The San Antonio Spurs then took Rutgers guard Dylan Harper before Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe headed to the Philadelphia 76ers, Duke guard Kon Knueppel was taken by the Charlotte Hornets, and Rutgers guard Ace Bailey was selected by the Utah Jazz to round of the top five. The second round of the NBA Draft is Thursday in Brooklyn.
Report: Knicks Interviewing Pelicans Associate Coach:
(New York, NY) — The Knicks are adding another candidate to their list of potential head coaches. According to ESPN, New York is interviewing New Orleans Pelicans associate coach James Borrego for its head coaching job. Borrego was the head coach of the Charlotte Hornets from 2018 to 2022. The 47-year-old joins Mike Brown, Taylor Jenkins and Micah Nori as known formal interviews.
Browns’ Diontae Johnson Talks About Ravens Controversy:
(Cleveland, OH) — An NFL player is sharing details about a bizarre game last season. Browns’ receiver Diontae Johnson told the Sports and Suits podcast that he “checked out mentally” before refusing to enter a game for the Ravens in Week 13. Johnson said he wasn’t going to put “bad stuff” on film after not being asked to play until the fourth quarter. The 28-year-old suited up for three teams last year.
Marlins’ Max Meyer Out For Season With Hip Injury:
(Miami, FL) — The Marlins are going to be without a key member of their starting rotation for the rest of the season. Max Meyer will have surgery on Friday for a hip injury. He was originally placed on the 15-day IL after tweaking his left side in a game earlier this month. Meyer went 3-and-5 with a 4.73 ERA to go with 68 strikeouts in almost 65 innings pitched this year.
Canucks Acquire Evander Kane From Oilers:
(Vancouver, BC) — The Canucks are making a deal for a premiere power forward ahead of the NHL draft. The team acquired Evander Kane from the Oilers in exchange for a fourth-round pick. The Vancouver native missed all of last season with several injuries and returned for the Stanley Cup playoffs. Kane scored six goals and tallied six assists in 21 postseason games for Edmonton.
Fever Waive DeWanna Bonner:
The Fever are moving on from a veteran player. Indiana has waived DeWanna Bonner and signed Aari McDonald for the rest of the season. Bonner was one of several offseason additions by the Fever. According to ESPN, the 37-year-old has contemplated retirement, but would prefer to return to the Phoenix Mercury where she began her career in 2009. McDonald was taken with the third pick in the 2021 draft by Atlanta.
Rocket Classic Preview:
(Detroit, MI) — Cam Davis will be looking to defend his crown at the Rocket Classic. Davis won last year’s tournament at Detroit Golf Club after finishing atop the leaderboard at 18 under par. The 30-year-old will be alongside Min Woo Lee and Wyndham Clark for the first and second rounds. Adam Hadwin, Victor Perez and David Skinns will be among the first group of players teeing off round one on Thursday.
