Gene Ella Johnson 72, of McLeansboro, IL passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at her residence. Gene was born in Kankakee, IL. on January 30, 1953 to Eugene and Dorothy (Brown) Dravo. On February 14, 2018 she married John Johnson in Kankakee and he survives.
Gene was a homemaker and a member of Brush Harbor Church, McLeansboro. She loved to crochet, making quilts for babies.
Survivors include her husband John, a daughter Karee Torres and husband Julio, McLeansboro, IL. and a son John Clark and wife Pam, Macedonia, IL. Step sons Nathan Johnson and wife Leah, Kankakee, IL and Garth Johnson and companion Margaret, Dwight, IL. Step daughter Sarissa Johnson, Watseka, IL. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Gene is preceded in death by her parents, a brother George Dravo, a sister Carolyn Poynter and step son Jasen Johnson
Memorials may be made to the ALS Foundation.
A Celebration of Life will be held at her church, Brush Harbor, at a later date with a burial of ashes in the church cemetery. Pastor Rick Floyd will officiate.
