The City of Flora is gearing up for a star-spangled Independence Day celebration packed with activities for all ages on Friday, July 4, culminating in a dazzling fireworks show at dusk at the fairgrounds.
The day kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with the All American Boy & Girl Contest on the Old Kiwanis Stage. Simultaneously, the Clay County Country Club will host its annual 4th of July Golf Scramble, with tee time set for 10:00 a.m.
Hosted by the Flora Chamber of Commerce, a Cornhole Tournament begins with check-in at 10:00 a.m., followed by bag toss play at 11:00 a.m. Throughout the day, families can enjoy a wide range of activities including face painting from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and the Kid Zone from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. ($10 armband required). The popular Lucky R Petting Zoo will be open from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Emergency services take center stage with Big Trucks in a Small Town (EMS Edition) from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m., followed by a Sons of the American Revolution Display from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Food lovers will have plenty to choose from, with food trucks set up near the playground from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Featured vendors include Poe’d Smoked BBQ, The Fair Lady, Krazy Sweet Treats, and Pokorney’s Kettle Corn.
Evening entertainment, organized by Visit Flora Tourism, begins at 6:30 p.m. with a live performance by Music City Misfits, followed by Colton Cline from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m., and another Music City Misfits set running until the fireworks begin. A line dance class with Doug & Debi Leak is also scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Food trucks return for the evening, with Gilly’s Smokeshow and The Fair Lady & Krazy Sweet Treats serving from 5:30 p.m. until dusk. Meanwhile, those looking to cool off can enjoy a night swim at the city pool from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The grand finale of the day — the Fireworks Show — will light up the skies over the Flora Fairgrounds at dusk.
