Pittsburgh Pirates 7, St. Louis Cardinals 0 The St. Louis Cardinals had just four hits during a 7-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. The Cardinals surrendered six runs in the bottom of the fifth during the losing effort. Erick Fedde was charged with his eighth loss after allowing seven runs on ten hits in five innings. The loss snapped St. Louis’ three-game winning streak. The Cardinals continue their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a game at PNC Park this evening. The Cardinals are in third place in the NL Central at 47-and-39. St. Louis sends Andre Pallante to the mound against Paul Skenes. First pitch is at 5:40PM.

The Chicago Cubs look to get back in the win column when they host the Cleveland Guardians at Wrigley Field tonight. The Cubs are coming off a series loss to the Houston Astros over the weekend. Chicago is in first place in the NL Central at 49-and-35. Matthew Boyd starts for the Northsiders tonight. First pitch is at 7:05PM.

>>Report: Dolphins Swap Ramsey And Smith To Steelers For Fitzpatrick
A couple of defensive stars are switching teams. The Dolphins are trading cornerback Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith to the Steelers for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Miami is also receiving a 2027 fifth round pick in exchange for a 2027 seventh rounder. According to ESPN, Ramsey will be getting a 1.5-million-dollar raise to bring his salary up to over 26-million-dollars. Smith will also receive a one-year extension worth 12-million-dollars.

One of the league’s best pass rushers could be on the move. According to ESPN, multiple teams have been discussing if they can trade for Steelers linebacker TJ Watt. The Steelers have yet to show any willingness to deal Watt so far. The 30-year-old is entering the final year of his contract. He skipped voluntary OTAs this offseason in an effort to negotiate a new deal.

The NBA free agency period is officially underway. The Memphis Grizzlies are expected to sign forward Jaren Jackson Jr. to a five-year, 240-million-dollar maximum renegotiation and extension. Elsewhere, the Houston Rockets are signing free agent forward Dorian Finney-Smith to a four-year, 53-million-dollar deal. Some of the other major moves of the day include the Denver Nuggets trading Michael Porter Jr. and an unprotected 2032 first-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Cameron Johnson. In other moves, Luke Kornet is signing with the Spurs, Clint Capela has inked a deal with the Rockets, and Brook Lopez will be suiting up for the LA Clippers.

The Clippers are making moves on the first day of the free agency period. ESPN reports that Los Angeles is signing free agency center Brook Lopez to a two-year, 18-million-dollar deal with the team. The 37-year-old Lopez has spent the past seven seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he averaged 13 points through 80 games last season. The Clippers are also reportedly signing forward Nicolas Batum to a two-year, 11.5-million-dollar pact. His deal includes a team option as well as a trade kicker.

The Rockets are making a splash on the first day of NBA free agency. ESPN is reporting that Houston is signing free agent forward Dorian Finney-Smith to a four-year, 53-million-dollar deal. The 32-year-old opted out of his player option with the Los Angeles Lakers in order to hit free agency. He averaged 8.7 points through 62 games split between the Lakers and Brooklyn Nets last season. In other news, Houston is signing center Clint Capela to a three-year, 21.5-million-dollar contract.

Two members of the Nets’ front court are expected to return to Brooklyn. According to ESPN, forward Ziaire Williams and center Day’Ron Sharpe intend to sign two-year, 12-million-dollar deals. The Nets declined to tender Sharpe’s qualifying offer ahead of free agency. He was taken with the 29th pick in the 2021 draft. Williams’ deal includes a team option for a second season. He was taken in the first round of the 2021 draft by the Memphis Grizzlies.

>>Report: Knicks To Meet With Mike Brown Again
The Knicks continue to search for their next head coach. According to ESPN, New York will have a second meeting with Mike Brown. The 55-year-old has coached nine full seasons in the league and is a two-time NBA Coach of the Year. He has spent time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings. The Knicks have also interviewed former Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins and Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori.

>>WNBA Announces 3 Expansion Teams
The WNBA is expanding to 18 teams. On Monday, the league announced its adding teams in Cleveland, Detroit and Philadelphia. Cleveland will join the WNBA in 2028 followed by Detroit in 2029 and Philadelphia in 2030. Cleveland and Detroit previously had teams when the league was at its peak with 16 teams in 2002. Next year will see teams in Portland and Toronto begin play following the Golden State Valkyries joining this season.

The opening day of Wimbledon is in the books. On the men’s side, defending champion and second-seeded Carlos Alcaraz recorded a victory in the first round. Eighth-seeded Holger Rune and ninth-seeded Daniil Medvedev were both upset in the first round. Americans Frances Tiafoe, Jenson Brooksby, Ethan Quinn and Learner Lien are all moving on to the second round following wins on the first day of competition. On the women’s side, top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka and fourth-seeded Jasmine Paolini cruised to straights set wins. Sixth-seeded American Madison Keys, 13-seed Amanda Anisimova and 31-seed Ashlyn Krueger were the top American women to advance to the second round.
