Hamilton Memorial Hospital District (HMHD) has announced the creation of a Patient and Family Engagement Committee (PFEC), a new initiative aimed at strengthening the hospital’s commitment to patient-centered care by directly involving patients and their families in shaping healthcare experiences.
The PFEC will serve as a collaborative forum where former patients and their loved ones—referred to as PFEC Advisors—can provide meaningful input, share their healthcare experiences, and help drive improvements in quality, safety, and communication throughout the hospital.
“Listening to the lived experiences of our patients and their families is one of the most meaningful ways we can evolve and improve as a hospital,” said Staci Frank, HMHD’s Director of Quality and Risk Management. “The PFEC gives our community a direct and powerful voice in shaping how we deliver care.”
PFEC Advisors will have the opportunity to:
Share personal stories and insights—positive or negative—to influence positive change
Participate in discussion groups and feedback sessions
Review or help create patient education materials
Join short-term improvement projects alongside hospital staff
To be eligible, individuals must have been a patient at Hamilton Memorial Hospital or a family member of a patient within the past five years. Advisors will serve as representatives of the broader patient community, collaborating closely with hospital leadership to identify and implement changes that enhance the care experience.
Applications are now open, and those interested can learn more or apply at hmhospital.org/PFECommittee
