The Cardinals visit the Cubs tomorrow.

The Cubs trailed by one in the bottom of the fourth before Seiya Suzuki hit a go-ahead single in a three-run frame. Shota Imanaga earned his fifth win after allowing three runs on four hits in five-and-a-third innings. The Northsiders are in first place in the NL Central at 51-and-35. They send Cade Horton to the mound against Cleveland tonight.

Blues Sign Pius Suter
(St. Louis, MO) — The St. Louis Blues are making a splash in free agency. The team signed forward Pius Suter to a two-year deal yesterday. Suter will be paid just over four-million dollars per year. The 29-year-old spent the last two seasons in Vancouver. He had a career-high 25 goals and 21 assists in 81 games last season.

(Los Angeles, CA) — Former number one overall pick DeAndre Ayton is signing with the Los Angeles Lakers. Reports say the center is signing a two-year deal, including a player option, with the team after clearing waivers. Ayton is set to make 34-million-dollars next season. The soon-to-be 27-year-old was released by the Portland Trail Blazers earlier this week and was the top pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns. Ayton joins the number three pick from that draft, Luka Doncic [[LOO-kuh DON-chitch]], who was acquired during the season in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks.

(Charlotte, NC) — The Hornets are adding to their back court. According to ESPN, Charlotte is signing free agent guard Spencer Dinwiddie to a one-year contract. Dinwiddie averaged 11 points, four assists and three rebounds for the Mavericks last season. He is entering his 12th NBA season after being selected with the 38th pick in the 2014 draft by the Pistons. The 32-year-old has also spent time with the Nets, Wizards and Lakers.

(Undated) — The Mavericks are adding a former head coach to the staff. ESPN reports that Dallas is finalizing an agreement to hire Frank Vogel as the team’s lead assistant coach. The former head coach of the Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacers will replace Sean Sweeney, who departed this offseason to join the San Antonio Spurs. The 52-year-old was fired by Phoenix in May 2024 after just one season, where he led the team to a 49-and-33 record. The Mavs are also reportedly signing free agent guard Dante Exum to a one-year deal. He has averaged eight points per game in his two seasons with Dallas.

(Undated) — MLB has announced the starters for this month’s All-Star Game. In the American League, Detroit’s Gleyber Torres, Javier Baez and Riley Greene will be joined by Seattle’s Cal Raleigh, Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Jacob Wilson of the Athletics, Cleveland’s Jose Ramirez, New York’s Aaron Judge and Baltimore’s Ryan O’Hearn in the lineup. As for the National League, Shohei Ohtani, Will Smith and Freddie Freeman of the Dodgers will start alongside Arizona’s Ketel Marte, New York’s Francisco Lindor, San Diego’s Manny Machado, Atlanta’s Ronald Acuna Jr., as well as Chicago’s Kyle Tucker and Pete Crow-Armstrong. The game will be played July 15th in Atlanta.

(Atlanta, GA) — One of the most effective arms in the Braves’ rotation is dealing with a serious injury. The team announced on Wednesday that Spencer Schwellenbach has a fractured pitching elbow. MLB.com reports that the 25-year-old will be sidelined for at least a month. Schwellenbach got hurt following his last outing on Saturday and is 7-and-4 this season with a 3.09 ERA in more than 110 innings.

(Undated) — A veteran big leaguer is hanging up his bat and glove. Major league outfielder Kevin Pillar is announcing his retirement following a career that spanned 13 seasons with 10 different teams. Pillar made his retirement public on the Foul Territory podcast a month after being released by the Texas Rangers. The 36-year-old batted .255 with 114 home runs and 469 RBIs in over 12-hundred career games played. Pillar began his career with the Toronto Blue Jays before also suiting up for the San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox, Colorado Rockies, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox and LA Angels.

(Tuscaloosa, AL) — The Crimson Tide are staying local with their latest recruit. Four-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan announced his commitment to Alabama on Wednesday. Morgan is ranked number 47 in the 2026 ESPN 300, the number six wide receiver prospect, and third-ranked recruit from the state of Alabama. He chose the Tide over Auburn, Colorado, Florida and Georgia.

(Undated) — One of the top pass rushers in the Class of 2026 has decided where he will play college football. Four-star defensive end Trenton Henderson has announced his commitment to LSU. The Pensacola native chose the Tigers over other top programs such as Auburn, Florida, Michigan and Texas. Henderson is ESPN’s eighth-ranked defensive end in the current cycle. He joins the Tigers as the sixth top 100 pledge and ninth overall ESPN 300 commit in the 2026 class.

(London) — The action is continuing to heat up on the grass courts at Wimbledon. Defending Wimbledon champion and second-seeded Carlos Alcaraz cruised to a win in straight sets while fifth-seeded American Taylor Fritz battled to a five-set victory to advance to the third round. 12th-seeded American Frances Tiafoe was upset in four sets and 29th-seeded Brandon Nakashima picked up a win to move on. On the women’s side, top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka and sixth-seeded American Madison Keys each locked up a spot in the next round. Fellow American Amanda Anisimova will join her in the third round, while fourth-seeded Jasmine Paolini was ousted from the tournament.

Trey Mullinax, Beau Hossler and David Lipsky will be among the first group of players teeing off round one at TPC Deere Run.
