Rivers and Wx Info

A check of area river stages as of this morning shows the Little Wabash River east of Fairfield is at 16.49 feet, below the 17-foot flood stage.  At Clay City the stage is 8.53 feet.  Flood stage is 18 feet.  At Carmi the reading is 11.59 feet.  Flood stage is 27 feet.  The Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 5.48 feet.  Flood stage is 15 feet.  The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel is at 9.73 feet.  Flood stage is 19 feet.  Bonpas Creek at Browns is at 2.45 feet.

Shower and thunderstorm chances are in the forecast starting Sunday afternoon, mostly the afternoon pop-up type.  The latest U.S. Drought Monitor Map released Thursday does show some Abnormally Dry conditions as far south as Effingham County in Illinois and areas to the northeast.  Northern Illinois is in Moderate Drought conditions.

The extended  weather forecasts, running through July 18th, is favoring near normal temperatures and above normal precipitation.  The 30 day outlook for July favors above normal temperatures and equal chances for above or below normal precipitation.
