The St. Louis Cardinals look to get back in the win column when they host the Washington Nationals at Busch Stadium tonight. The Cardinals just dropped two of three against the Cubs over the weekend. St. Louis is in third place in the NL Central at 48-and-43. Sonny Gray starts for the Cards tonight. First pitch is at 6:45PM.

The Chicago Cubs will try to get on a winning streak when they visit the Minnesota Twins at Target Field tonight. The Cubs just took two of three from the Cardinals over the weekend. Chicago is in first place in the NL Central at 54-and-36. The Cubs send Shota Imanaga to the mound this evening. First pitch is at 6:40PM. In other Cubs news, Michael Busch was named the Co-Player of the Week in the National League yesterday.

>>Kansas Extends Deadline For Chiefs, Royals Stadium Funding

(Undated) — A Kansas legislative committee is extending the deadline for the Chiefs and Royals to decide on a stadium financing plan from the state. The Kansas Legislative Coordinating Committee has unanimously approved the extension to use bonds to cover 70-percent of a new stadium’s cost if the two teams decide to relocate to the state. The new deadline is set for June 30th, 2026. However, the committee is seeking an answer from the two professional teams by December 31st of this year. The Chiefs and Royals have both played for more than five decades at the Truman Sports Complex in eastern Kansas City, Missouri.

The contract is worth just under 240-million dollars and could reach up to nearly 290-million with incentives. The 22-year-old averaged almost 26 points in 46 games last season and missed significant time with an oblique injury.

(Indianapolis, IN) — The Pacers made some disappointing news official on Monday. Indiana confirmed that star guard Tyrese Haliburton will miss the entire 2025-26 season after surgery to repair a torn right Achilles tendon. Haliburton suffered a calf strain in Game Five of the NBA Finals before tearing his Achilles in the first quarter of Game Seven. He averaged 14 points, six assists and five rebounds during the Finals.

(New York, NY) — The Knicks have finally hired a new head coach. Team president Leon Rose said in a statement on Monday that after a thorough and extensive search process, the organization has hired Mike Brown as the head coach. New York offered the job to Brown last week. Brown is a two-time NBA Coach of the Year after leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals in 2007 and bringing the Sacramento Kings back to the postseason in 2023.

(Miami, FL) — A trio of NBA teams are shaking up their rosters. The Heat acquired Norman Powell from the Clippers, LA received John Collins from the Jazz and Utah landed Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson and a 2027 second-round pick belonging to Los Angeles. The three-team trade executed on Monday was highlighted by Miami’s acquisition of Powell, who averaged nearly 22 points in 60 games last season.

Boston’s deal with Portland that sent guard Jrue Holiday to the Trail Blazers for guard Anfernee Simons and two future second round picks is no longer on the table. According to ESPN, a review of Holiday’s medical history did not reveal anything to negate the trade, but led the Trail Blazers to change the terms of the transaction. The Cs will no longer be receiving any draft picks.

(Philadelphia, PA) — The 76ers are welcoming back a veteran player. ESPN reported on Monday that Kyle Lowry agreed to a one-year deal with the team. The guard averaged almost four points and three assists in 35 games last season. The 39-year-old is heading into his 20th year after he was originally taken by the Grizzlies in the first round of the 2006 draft. Lowry has also played for the Heat, Raptors and Rockets.

(Tampa, FL) — A two-time Stanley Cup champion is hanging up his skates for good. Tyler Johnson announced his retirement on Monday. The 34-year-old played in just nine games last season for the Bruins and recorded a pair of assists. He was part of Tampa’s back-to-back Cup wins starting in 2020. Johnson also played for the Blackhawks and finished his career with almost 200 goals to go with 433 points in 747 games.

(Philadelphia, PA) — The Flyers are locking-down a promising blueliner. The team announced on Monday that Cam York agreed to a five-year contract worth almost 26-million dollars. The defenseman was a restricted free agent and will make just over five-million per season. The 24-year-old had 17 points and was a minus-eight in 66 games last season. York was taken by Philly with the 14th-overall pick in the 2019 draft.

(London) — The quarterfinals are set on the grass courts of Wimbledon. Top-seeded Jannik Sinner advanced after 19th-seeded Grigor Dimitrov retired due to an injured pectoral muscle in the third set. Sixth-seeded Novak Djokovic, 10th-seeded American Ben Shelton and 22nd-seeded Flavio Cobolli each moved on to the next round with fourth round victories. On the women’s side, seventh-seeded Mirra Andreeva, eighth-seeded Iga Swiatek, 19th-seeded Liudmila Samsonova and Belinda Bencic each punched their ticket to the quarterfinals. The highest-seeded American remaining in the women’s tournament Emma Navarro was eliminated in straight sets by Andreeva. The quarterfinals begin early Tuesday morning.
