Brendan Donovan hit a two-run shot to tie the game up in the inning before Alec Burleson hit a go-ahead double. Lars Nootbaar also homered in the victory, while Sonny Gray earned his ninth win after giving up two runs on five hits in five innings. The Cards have won two of three and are in third place in the NL Central at 49-and-43. Andre Pallante starts for St. Louis tonight. First pitch is at 6:45PM.

The Cubs trailed by just two runs entering the bottom of the eighth before surrendering three home runs in a six-run frame. Shota Imanaga was charged with his third loss after allowing two runs on five hits in six innings, while Justin Turner hit his second homer of the season. The Northsiders lead the NL Central with a 54-and-37 record. They send Cade Horton to the mound against Minnesota tonight.

(Atlanta, GA) — A veteran quarterback is still upset over his team’s drafting of a rookie replacement. Falcons gunslinger Kirk Cousins said he felt “a little bit misled” during an interview on the Netflix series “Quarterback” on Tuesday. The 36-year-old also said he would have considered re-signing with the Vikings if he knew Atlanta would take Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth-overall pick in the 2024 draft.

Cruz joins a field headlined by Mariners’ masher Cal Raleigh and Braves’ bopper Ronald Acuna Jr. The Home Run Derby takes place from Atlanta on Monday.

(Undated) — Three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic [[ yo-kitch ]] is not planning to sign an extension with the Nuggets this offseason. The Denver Post reports that Jokic will not seek a contract extension this summer. The 30-year-old has three years remaining on a five-year, 276-million-dollar deal that he signed in summer 2022. He has a player option in the final year of the deal worth 62.8-million-dollars in the 2027-28 season. Jokic is eligible to sign a three-year, 200-million-dollar extension this summer, but is able to earn an additional 77-million-dollars if he adds an additional fourth year in 2026.

(Undated) — The Mavericks’ star big man is recovering from offseason surgery. ESPN reports that Dallas forward Anthony Davis has undergone a procedure to repair a detached retina that he suffered during this past season. Davis is expected to be healthy for training camp. The 32-year-old averaged 20 points and 10.1 rebounds through nine games played with Dallas last season. Davis is a 10-time NBA All-Star.

(New York, NY) — The new head coach of the Knicks is ready to pick up where his predecessor left off. Mike Brown said during his introductory press conference on Tuesday that nobody has bigger expectations for the team than himself. Brown is taking over for Tom Thibodeau who was fired after leading New York to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years. The 55-year-old also said holding players accountable will be among the biggest parts of the job.

(Boston, MA) — The Celtics do not have any plans of needing to rebuild next season. President of basketball operations Brad Stevens said Tuesday that they knew exceeding the second apron would result in major basketball penalties. Stevens confirmed that the recent trades of Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis were done to get under the second apron. The team could make more moves to get completely out of the luxury tax, but there has not been a mandate given by incoming team owner Bill Chisholm.

(Undated) — The NHL and its players are agreeing to a new deal. ESPN reports that the sides ratified an updated collective bargaining agreement on Tuesday, which kicks-in following next season. The biggest changes include a two-game increase in the regular season from 82-to-84 games and a limit on contract terms. Players will be allowed to re-sign with their current team for a maximum of seven years or six with a new team.

>>Penn State Hockey Gains Gavin McKenna Commitment

(University Park, PA) — Penn State men’s hockey is making a major splash. The team gained a commitment from superstar Gavin McKenna on Tuesday. The projected top-overall pick in the 2026 draft is considered one of the best prospects in NCAA hockey history. The 17-year-old winger chose the Nittany Lions over Michigan State. McKenna had 129 points in 56 games for the Medicine Hat Tigers last season.

(Indianapolis, IN) — WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark expects to return to action Wednesday when the Indiana Fever host the Golden State Valkyries. She’s been out since she suffered a left groin injury on June 26th. This was the second time Clark has had to miss games due to injury this season. She has played in just eight of the Fever’s 18 games. Clark said she feels “pretty good” now, but added that she’s going to try to not overdo it and put herself in a good position moving forward.

(London) — Quarterfinal action in men’s and women’s singles began Tuesday at Wimbledon. On the men’s side, defending champion and second-seeded Carlos Alcaraz earned a straight sets victory, while fifth-seeded American Taylor Fritz punched his ticket to the semifinals with a victory in four sets. On the women’s side, top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka advanced with a win in three sets, while 13th-seeded American Amanda Anisimova moved on with a victory in straight sets. The quarterfinals continue early Wednesday morning in London.
