St. Louis Cardinals 5, Atlanta Braves 4 The Cardinals salvaged their three-game series against the Braves following a 5-4 victory from St. Louis. Jose Fermin crushed a go-ahead, two-run homer in the sixth inning. Gordon Graceffo earned the win in relief as St. Louis ended a two-game skid. The Cardinals head into the All-Star break as the third place team in the NL Central at 51-and-46. The St. Louis Cardinals are bringing some young talent into their organization. The Cardinals made four selections on day one of the MLB Draft yesterday. St. Louis took Tennessee pitcher Liam Doyle with the fifth overall pick in the first round before taking high school outfielder Ryan Mitchell in the second. The Cardinals finished up the day by drafting Tennessee pitcher Tanner Franklin and San Diego first baseman Jack Gurevitch. The MLB Draft continues today.

Chicago Cubs 4, New York Yankees 1 The Cubs captured their rubber match against the Yankees after picking up a 4-1 victory in the series finale from the Bronx. Shota Imanaga was credited with the win after striking out six over seven innings. Dansby Swanson and Michael Busch each went deep for Chicago, which leads the NL Central heading into the All-Star break with a 57-and-39 record. The Chicago Cubs are bringing some young talent into the organization. The Northsiders drafted three players on day one of the MLB Draft yesterday. The team selected Wake Forest outfielder Ethan Conrad with the 17th overall pick before taking North Carolina outfielder Kane Kepley in round two. Chicago rounded out the day by drafting high school pitcher Dominick Reid in the third round. The MLB Draft continues today.

The Red Sox are the hottest team in the league after ripping off their 10th-straight win. Boston trails the American League East-leading Blue Jays. The Tigers own the best-overall record in baseball at 59-and-38 to pace the Central while the Astros are the best in the West. Meanwhile, the Dodgers lead the National League with a 58-and-39 record to sit atop the West. The Cubs are ahead in the Central while the Phillies hold a slim margin over the Mets in the East.

(Atlanta, GA) — Some of the best sluggers in the big leagues will show off their talents in the Home Run Derby Monday night in Atlanta. Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh, who leads Major League Baseball with 38 home runs, headlines the field. Also competing will be Washington’s James Wood, Jazz Chisholm of the Yankees, Minnesota’s Byron Buxton, Pittsburgh’s Oneil Cruz, Brent Rooker of the Athletics, Tampa Bay’s Junior Caminero and Matt Olson of the hometown Braves. Four players will advance to the second round before the top two sluggers square off for the Home Run Derby title.

(Cumberland, GA) — Major League Baseball held the first three rounds of the draft, as well as compensation picks and competitive balance rounds on Sunday. The Washington Nationals selected high school shortstop Eli Willits with the number one selection, their third in franchise history. The Rockies selected shortstop Ethan Holliday, son of franchise legend Matt Holliday at number four overall. Golden Spikes Award winner Wehiwa Aloy was selected by the Baltimore Orioles with the 31 st overall pick. The draft resumes Monday with the final 17 rounds.

(Cleveland, OH) — A rookie on the Browns is dealing with a serious legal issue. Police say Quinshon Judkins was arrested on a domestic violence and battery charge in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday. ESPN reports the charge is a misdemeanor. The 21-year-old was taken with the 36th-overall pick in April’s draft and is the only player from Cleveland’s group who hasn’t signed their rookie deal.

(North Berwick, Scotland) — Chris Gotterup is celebrating his second career Tour victory after winning the Genesis Scottish Open. Gotterup finished atop the leaderboard at 15 under par to win the tournament by two strokes. Rory McIlroy and Marco Penge finished tied for second at 13 under. Defending champion Robert MacIntyre finished tied for 65th at two over par.

(Sonoma, CA) — Shane van Gisbergen is red hot after earning another NASCAR Cup Series victory. The driver of the Number-88 car took home the checkered flag in the Toyota-Save Mart 350 from Sonoma Raceway on Sunday. He’s won three of the last five races. Meanwhile, Ty Dillon, John Hunter Nemechek, Tyler Reddick and Ty Gibbs advanced to the final four of the In-Season Challenge. The field heads to Dover next Sunday.

(London) — Jannik Sinner is the men’s singles champion at Wimbledon. The top-seeded Sinner beat second-seeded and two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in four sets to win his first Wimbledon title and fourth Grand Slam crown. On Saturday, eighth-seeded Iga Swiatek won the women’s singles final in straight sets over 13th-seeded American Amanda Anisimova. The win captured the 24-year-old’s sixth grand slam title. In doubles, the fifth-seeded duo of Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool won the men’s final on Saturday, while the eighth-seeded pairing of Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens won the women’s final on Sunday.

(East Rutherford, NJ) — Chelsea are the winners of the FIFA Club World Cup following a 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday in New Jersey. Cole Palmer scored twice and provided an assist in the win. President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were in attendance for the match. Over 30 teams across all six FIFA confederations competed for the cup, becoming the first winners of the new-look, expanded format.
