MLB All-Star Game:

7:00 p.m. – AL All-Stars at NL All-Stars (at Atlanta, GA)

Brendan Donovan will be playing in his first All-Star Game at Truist Park tonight. The Cardinals second baseman is the team’s lone representative on the National League team. Donovan is a reserve, so he is expected to enter the game in the middle innings. The 28-year-old is hitting .297 with eight home runs and 36 RBI’s this season. The All Star Game begins at 7:00PM.

The St. Louis Cardinals made 17 draft picks during the final day of the 2025 MLB Draft. The Cardinals selected pitchers Cade Crossland and Ethan Young in the fourth and fifth rounds, respectively. They rounded out their draft class by adding eight more pitchers, two outfielders, four infielders, and a catcher.

The Chicago Cubs have three players on the National League roster, while the White Sox have one representative for the A.L. Outfielders Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker will start tonight’s game for the N.L., but the Cubs third All-Star Matthew Boyd will not pitch in the contest. White Sox starter Shane Smith might see an inning for the American League.

The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox each drafted 17 players on the final day of the MLB Draft. The Cubs took 12 pitchers, two outfielders, two catchers, and an infielder on day two. The White Sox added nine pitchers, four infielders, two catchers, and two outfielders to round out their 2025 draft class.

(Atlanta, GA) — Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh hit 18 home runs in the final round to beat Tampa Bay’s Junior Caminero and win the Home Run Derby in Atlanta. Raleigh is the first catcher to win the event and the first Seattle player to do so since Ken Griffey Jr. won three times between 1994 and 1999. Raleigh hit a total of 54 homers over three rounds, 10 more than Caminero. Oneil Cruz and Byron Buxton lost in the semifinals and Brent Rooker, James Wood, Matt Olson and Jazz Chisholm Jr. were eliminated in round one.

(Atlanta, GA) — The 2025 MLB All-Star Game is set to be played in Atlanta tonight. The American League is aiming to notch its second straight victory and win its 11th of the last 12 All-Star contests when they take on the National League at Truist Park. The AL won last year’s game 5-3 after the NL snapped a nine-game losing skid in 2023. Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes is slated to start on the mound for the NL opposite the AL’s Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers. Shohei Ohtani is set to start as the NL’s designated hitter, while current MLB home run leader and Home Run Derby champion Cal Raleigh is set to start at catcher for the AL. The AL is 22-4-and-1 against the NL since 1997.

(Tampa, FL) — The Rays have a new owner. The Athletic reported on Monday that Patrick Zalupski bought the team for one-point-seven-billion dollars. Current owner Stu Sternberg agreed to sell the team to the Florida-based developer. The deal is expected to close as early as September and Zalupski is committed to keeping the team in Tampa. Sternberg bought the Rays for 200-million in 2004.

(Undated) — The Royals are set to be without a member of their starting rotation for the foreseeable future. Kansas City has placed right-hander Michael Lorenzen on the 15-day injured list due to a left oblique strain. The 33-year-old is 5-and-8 with a 4.61 ERA through 18 starts this season. He last pitched on July 6th when he tossed seven scoreless frames against the Arizona Diamondbacks. A corresponding roster move is expected later this week.

(Florham Park, NJ) — The Jets are locking up one of their top play makers. According to ESPN, the Green and White have signed wide receiver Garrett Wilson to a four-year, 130-million-dollar contract extension. The deal includes 90-million-dollars in guaranteed money. He has caught 279 passes for over 32-hundred yards and 14 touchdowns since being taken with the 10th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

(Undated) — The 49ers are facing a difficult decision with one of their offensive play makers. ESPN reports that San Francisco wide receiver Jauan Jennings wants a new contract or a trade away from the franchise. Jennings is scheduled to make 7.5-million-dollars in the final year of his deal. If a new deal does not come to fruition by the start of the team’s training camp next week, the 28-year-old is planning to request a trade. Jennings finished last season with 77 receptions for 975 yards and six touchdowns.

(Undated) — A pair of college football powerhouse conferences are still at odds over a playoff reformat. Southeastern Conference commissioner Greg Sankey told the media on Monday that the Big Ten has a “different view” for a College Football Playoff structure. The SEC is lobbying for a “5-plus-11” model, which includes the five highest-ranked conference champs and 11 at-large bids. The current playoff field has 12 teams.

(Philadelphia, PA) — A star player on the 76ers is recovering from surgery. The team announced on Monday that Paul George underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. He got hurt during a recent workout and will be reevaluated before training camp. The 35-year-old was limited to 41 games last season after dealing with several injuries. George averaged just over 16 points per game.

(Cleveland, OH) — The Cavaliers are rewarding their president. ESPN reports the team extended Koby Altman on Monday. The deal will take him through the 2029-30 season. Cleveland finished with the top-overall seed in the Eastern Conference this past season.

(Sunrise, FL) — A date is set for the Stanley Cup championship banner to be raised in Sunrise. The Panthers will put their second straight banner in the rafters to kick off the regular season against the Blackhawks on October 7th. The NHL announced on Monday that a triple-header is planned that night with the Rangers hosting the Penguins and the Avalanche visiting the Kings. The league expands to 84 games after next season.
