The White County Sheriff’s Department responded to a three-vehicle chain-reaction crash Monday morning on Illinois Highway 1 at the Calvin Bottoms turnoff, located between Crossville and Grayville.

According to authorities, the crash occurred when a pickup truck failed to slow down, clipping a second vehicle that was stopped behind a third vehicle waiting to turn onto Calvin Bottoms Road. The impact forced the second vehicle into the rear of the turning car.

The accident involved two passenger cars and a pickup truck. Three of the individuals involved were minors, and four of the five people were transported to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville with non-life-threatening injuries.

Emergency response teams from Edwards County and Wabash County Ambulance, along with Crossville Fire and Crossville Police Department, assisted at the scene.
