THREE WAYNE COUNTY RESIDENTS ARRESTED OVER THE WEEKEND

Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies made three arrests over the weekend in separate incidents involving domestic battery, warrants and drug-related charges.

 

Jazmyn Smith, 21, of Fairfield, was arrested Saturday morning.  Deputies were dispatched to a possible domestic incident at a residence in Sims,   After investigating the incident,  deputies placed Smith  in custody for domestic battery.   She was transported to the Wayne County Jail, where she remains pending a court appearance.

On Sunday morning at approximately 4:00am, Wayne County Deputies responded to a possible domestic issue and a rural Fairfield residence. As the investigation continued no evidence on physical violence was present but it was determined that Abby N. Koontz (37) of Fairfield had an active Clay County Warrant for her arrest. Koontz was taken into custody and transported to the Wayne County Jail

Also arrested Sunday was 52-year-old Micheal Sumpter Jr. of Geff.  At approximately 3:00pm,  a Wayne County Deputy on patrol observed  Sumpter walking near Fairfield. The Deputy knew Sumpter had active Wayne County warrants and took Sumpter into custody. The warrants were for Domestic Battery, Methamphetamine Possession, and Aggravated Assault. Sumpter was lodged in the Wayne County Jail pending a court appearance.
