Fairfield Police have arrested two local men in separate late-night incidents over the past week, one involving a high-speed motorcycle pursuit and a stolen firearm, and the other related to a felony warrant for criminal sexual assault.

On Saturday, July 19th at approximately 11:40 p.m., officers observed 28-year-old David T. Asher of Fairfield operating a motorcycle on Elm Street. Officers attempted to stop Asher, knowing he had no valid motorcycle license and that the bike’s registration was suspended. Asher refused to stop, accelerated, and led police on a brief pursuit before crashing at the intersection of Elm and NW 7th Street.
After the crash, Asher fled on foot, ignoring officers’ commands. He ran into the path of another responding patrol vehicle before being apprehended. During his arrest, a loaded firearm fell from his waistband. Police also found .22 Long Rifle ammunition in his possession. The weapon was later identified as stolen.
Asher was treated for injuries at the scene by Wayne County Ambulance and airlifted to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. After receiving medical clearance, he was transported to the Wayne County Jail. He faces multiple charges including aggravated fleeing, obstructing justice, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and other traffic violations.

In a separate incident on Thursday, July 17th at approximately 11:24 p.m., officers patrolling NW 7th Street arrested 18-year-old Remington K. Dalton of Fairfield on an outstanding Wayne County warrant for criminal sexual assault. Dalton was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Wayne County Jail to await a court appearance.
