Eva Jean Bailey, 91, of Mill Shoals, passed away at 8:03am on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. She had worked as a secretary for the H & W Truss Company in Utah, a business that her late husband, James Bailey, owned and operated.
Eva was born on August 1, 1933, in Aden, IL, to Fred and Bessie (Wilkerson) Hutchcraft. She married the love of her life, James “Buddy” Bailey, who preceded her in death in October, 2010.
Eva and James were both avid bowlers, playing for bowling leagues through the years in Fairfield, Albion, and Mt. Vernon. Eva was also a St. Louis Cardinals fan and faithfully watched their games on tv or attended in person.
Survivors include her niece and caregiver Linda (John) Bosecker of Fairfield, along with many more nieces and nephews and also a sister-in-law Flora June Randolph of Carmi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, five sisters Wanda Lowery, Dorothy Shell, Velma Bailey, Wilma Martin, and Winifred Hutchcraft, along with three brothers Wayne Hutchcraft, Willard Hutchcraft, and James Hutchcraft.
Funeral services for Eva Bailey will be at 12pm on Saturday, August 2nd, at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial to follow in Shrewsbury Cemetery in Mill Shoals, IL. Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the Dr. Scranton Memorial Cancer Fund and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
