Governor Pritzker is thanking lawmakers after signing two new bills into law that aim to improve gun safety in the state.
The bills include the Safe Gun Storage Act, which strengthens safe storage requirements in homes where a firearm could be accessed by a minor, an at-risk person, or someone otherwise banned from using firearms. The second measure requires every law enforcement agency in Illinois to participate in the federal firearm tracing platform e-Trace to strengthen investigations and make communities safer. The governor says this legislation contains common-sense measures to support law enforcement and promote gun safety across the state.
