The Fairfield Police Department continues to investigate an early morning break-in at the Fairfield City Pool. According to reports, early last Wednesday morning, intruders were discovered at the pool when, at around 5 a.m., a man arrived for his routine early morning swim. The intruders reportedly fled the area when he arrived, leaving behind several alcohol containers and other items. Following an investigation, it was discovered that the intruders had entered the pool area by using power tools to cut a large hole in the fencing around the former baby pool area. Damage to the vinyl-coated fence has been estimated at close $5,000. Park Superintendent, Chris Jenkins, says after reviewing video surveillance, the break-in appeared to start at around 2:30 a.m. Authorities say there was also evidence of an attempt to break into the pool’s concession stand. The Fairfield Police Department is investigating subsequent damage, and charges will be filed once the investigation is complete.
