A partnership between the Illinois State Police (ISP) and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is offering real-world experience for the next generation of criminal justice students and aiding ISP special agents working to solve old homicide cases. The program has resulted in students working with the agents to review dozens of cases. ISP Director Brendan Kelly says this partnership has yielded positive results on many fronts.
Since the program began, SIUE students have worked closely with ISP special agents to review dozens of cases. The work of the collaboration recently led to the identification of three women, all believed to be victims of a serial killer nearly 25 years ago.
