The Clay County Health Department will host Miles of Smiles on Monday, August 5th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., offering free preventative dental services to eligible children of all grade levels. Provided by Miles of Smiles, Ltd., the services may include a dental exam or screening by a licensed dentist or certified public health dental hygienist, teeth cleaning, fluoride varnish application, and sealant placement if needed. These services fulfill the State of Illinois’ school dental requirement for students in Kindergarten, 2nd, 6th, and 9th grades. There is no cost to families or the health department. Billing, where applicable, will be submitted to the Illinois Medicaid Program, public or private grants, or private dental insurance. Regardless of reimbursement outcomes, families and schools will never be billed for copayments, deductibles, or balances.
