Body Found in Wabash River Near New Harmony Bridge

Friday at approximately 9:45 am, White County Dispatch was called in reference to an overturned truck in the Wabash River approximately 1 mile South of the New Harmony Bridge. Once on scene, White County deputies called for the Shawneetown Dive Team and IDNR Conservation to respond to the scene to determine if someone was in the vehicle. The Shawneetown Dive Team arrived and determined there was someone in the vehicle. Tri-State Towing and Recovery arrived on scene and the vehicle was removed from the water. The individual in the vehicle was identified by Sheriff Weiss as Robert Duvall of Crossville. The White County Coroner’s office has not determined the cause of the death at this time, but an autopsy will be scheduled. No foul play is suspected. The White County Sheriff’s office was assisted by the White County Coroner’s office, White County Ambulance, the Shawneetown Dive Team and the Carmi Fire Department.
