Harry Kenneth “Kenny” Fewkes, 84, passed peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at his residence in Bone Gap, Illinois. Kenny was born on May 27, 1941, on the family farm in Edwards County, the son of Harry and Mary (Harris) Fewkes.
Kenny was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He loved living a lifetime as a farmer and was happy his son continued in his footsteps. He also had a passion for doing cat work and continued to work and operate equipment until his health no longer allowed.
Although not a veteran, Kenny was honored to participate in the VFW Honor Guard, performing at many final rites, marching in parades, and doing fundraisers.
He was a member of the Edwards County Sportsmen’s Club and the Amateur Trapshooting Association. Kenny loved trapshooting, going to many shoots over the years with his son, grandson, and other trapshooting friends. He was very proud to have won the Illinois State Handicap Championship in 2004. He was a major supporter of the annual Founders Shoot.
Kenny was united in marriage to Scharlene St. Ledger on April 4, 1979, in Albion and she survives. He leaves behind a son, Marvin (Jackie) Fewkes of Keensburg, IL, and a daughter, Diana (Fred) Knackmuhs of Albion, IL; his sister, Connie Hocking of Keensburg, IL; and stepchildren Michelle (Chip) Judge of Grayville, IL, Shari (Brett) Berger of Fairfield, IL, Matt (Christy) St. Ledger of Albion, IL, Mark (Jaime) St. Ledger of Pittsburgh, PA, and Marsha St. Ledger of Harrison, TN.
Kenny is survived by grandchildren Melissa (Josh) Kiefer, Jessica (Nyk) Lear, Ashley (Drew) Sellers, Landon (Brittany) Fewkes, Cory (Becca) Fewkes, and Kaci (Stacy) Simonin; step-grandchildren Jacob Judge, Jaime (Cavin) Judge, Nichole Berger, Kayleigh (Jeremy) Witter, Eli (Brianna) Berger, Ryan St. Ledger, Carlin St. Ledger, Shaeli St. Ledger, Kade St. Ledger, Ty Wood, and Drew Wood; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a half-brother Charles Fred Fewkes, half-sister Wilma Jean McClure, brother-in-law Gary Hocking, and nephews Scott Hocking and Joe Fewkes.
Funeral services for Kenneth Fewkes will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion with burial to follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Nale’s. Memorial donations can be made to the VFW Avenue of Flags or the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
