Margaret Ann Hughes, age 94, of Kokomo, Indiana stepped into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 5:26 p.m. on August 2, 2025 while living at Bloom Memory Care. She was born October 24, 1930 in New Harmony, Indiana, the daughter of the late George E. Jacobs and Helen Fisher Jacobs. On August 5, 1950 she married the love of her life, Wayne Hughes, and the two of them enjoyed 70 years of marriage until his passing in 2020.

Margaret is survived by her children, Ronald W. Hughes of Brownsburg, Indiana and his wife Rachel, and Brian D. Hughes of Kokomo, Indiana and his wife Darla; Also, four grandchildren, Brittany Hughes, Brianna Thiede, Brad Hughes and Bethany Butler, along with 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 1 brother, two sisters, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

While Margaret worked only for a short period of time during her married life, she was primarily a homemaker and a Christian volunteer. She clearly understood her salvation was solely by grace through faith but she knew she was called as a Christian to serve others. She was a Sunday School teacher in her early adult life and for many years she ministered to the women inmates at the Carmi-White County Jail. She also regularly visited nursing homes, encouraging and praying for the elderly. One of her last ministry assignments was at Grace House in Evansville, an addiction recovery center for women. She showered the ladies there with a tremendous amount of love, grace, prayers, scripture and candy.

Margaret loved to laugh, joke with people and even prank her friends in her younger years. People who knew her often commented how her smile and jovial presence was infectious. It was very easy for her to make new friends and to light up a room with her personality. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace House Teen Challenge, 1015 N. Lebanon St. Lebanon, Indiana 46052
