On Monday, August 4th, at approximately 4:40 PM, Fairfield City Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on a black Jeep in the 900 block of George Street. The Jeep was stopped because it displayed a registration linked to a light blue Cadillac Utility. The driver, identified as Dillon S. Hewkin, 32, of Fairfield, failed to stop when officers initially activated their emergency lights and siren. The vehicle continued and proceeded to disobey a stop sign at the intersection of Tice Clevenger Drive and George Street before pulling into a driveway in the 900 block of George Street. Upon stopping, it was confirmed that the vehicle was not registered to Hewkin. During the stop it was also confirmed that Hewkin had a revoked Illinois Drivers license and was unable to provide proof of insurance. Hewkin was placed under arrest and transported to the Wayne County Jail for processing. Hewkin was issued citations for improper vehicle registration, operating an uninsured vehicle, driving with a revoked license, disobeying a stop sign, and attempting to elude a peace officer.
