(Champaign, IL) — The Illinois football team will start the season with its highest ranking in over 30 years. The Fighting Illini was ranked number-12 the USA Today Preseason Coaches Poll. That is the first time Illinois has started the season in the Coaches Poll top 15 since 1990. The Illini will kick off the 2025 football season at home against Western Illinois on Friday, August 29th.

(Los Angeles, CA) — The St. Louis Cardinals gave up four home runs during a 12-6 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Miles Mikolas was charged with his ninth loss after surrendering five runs on seven hits in three innings. Nolan Gorman and Willson Contreras both homered in the losing effort. The Cardinals are in fourth place in the NL Central at 57-and-58. Matthew Liberatore takes the mound for St. Louis against Los Angeles this afternoon.

(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Cubs surrendered four runs in the top of the seventh during a 5-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds from Wrigley Field. The game was tied at one before Andrew Kittredge gave up a three-run home run to Spencer Steer. Kittredge was charged with his third loss in relief, while Matt Shaw homered in the losing effort. The Northsiders remain in second place in the NL Central at 65-and-48. Cade Horton starts for Chicago against Cincinnati this afternoon.

(Seattle, WA) — The Chicago White Sox surrendered three home runs during an 8-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. Davis Martin was charged with his ninth loss in relief after allowing five earned runs and one unearned run on seven hits in five innings. Lenyn Sosa, Luis Robert Jr., and Colson Montgomery all homered in the losing effort. The Southsiders are in last place in the AL Central at 42-and-71. Jonathan Cannon starts for the Sox against Seattle tonight.

(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Sky snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 78-64 win over the Washington Mystics from Wintrust Arena. The Sky led by as many as 19 points in the victory after racing out to a 25-10 lead after the first quarter. Elizabeth Williams led the way with 18 points and ten rebounds in the victory, while Kamilla Cardoso chipped in with 16 points and 13 boards. Chicago is in 11th place in the WNBA at 8-and-21. The Sky host Atlanta tomorrow night.

(Los Angeles, CA) — The Fever saw their winning streak come to an end after falling to the Sparks 100-91 in Los Angeles. Kelsey Mitchell led all scorers with 34 points for the Fever. Indiana hopes to bounce back when it visits the Mercury tomorrow night in Phoenix.
