Bears Begin Preseason:
(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Bears open up preseason play with a game against the Miami Dolphins at Soldier Field on Sunday. The Bears are looking to improve upon a 5-and-12 2024 campaign. Sunday’s game kicks off at noon.
The St. Louis Cardinals come back home to begin a weekend series against the Chicago Cubs at Busch Stadium tonight. The Cardinals are coming off a series win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road earlier in the week. St. Louis is in fourth place in the NL Central at 58-and-58. (El Segundo, CA) — The Chargers will be without their Pro Bowl blindside blocker for the entire 2025 season. Los Angeles left tackle Rashawn Slater will miss the season due to a ruptured patellar tendon that he suffered during Thursday’s practice. Slater will undergo surgery and be placed on injured reserve. The 26-year-old was carted off the field after a team drill in which he fell to the ground clutching his left leg. Slater signed a four-year, 113-million-dollar contract extension that includes 92-million-dollars guaranteed with the team late last month. The deal made him the highest-paid offensive lineman by average annual pay in NFL history.

The Cowboys have reportedly not received any calls regarding a trade for Parsons and have not started contract discussions with the standout defensive end. The 26-year-old requested a trade from the team in a social media post last week.

Guyton is ESPN’s fifth-ranked overall prospect in the cycle and the second-ranked defender in the ESPN Junior 300. The Georgia native chose the Red Raiders over Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. Guyton cannot formally sign with a college program for another 16 months.
