The West Salem Chowder Committee hosts the annual West Salem Homecoming and Chowder on Saturday, August 16th.
Festivities begin with the parade, as participants line up at 8:30 a.m. at JJ’s Truck & Trailer Parking Lot, located at 324 Northwest Street. The parade steps off at 9:30 a.m., following a route around the town square before returning to the starting point.
Following the parade, the spotlight turns to the community’s signature dish—West Salem Chowder.
Bulk chowder sales begin at 10:30 a.m., available by drive-thru or walk-up service.
Shelter House serving line opens at 11:00 a.m.
Cost is $25 per gallon, and buckets are provided.
This cherished event reflects the town’s patriotic spirit, small-town pride, and strong community ties. Organizers invite all to participate or attend in support of a tradition that continues to bring neighbors and families together.
