Fairfield Rural Fire Department, EMS personnel and Illinois State Police Troop 9 responded to a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning, August 12th on U.S. Route 45 about a half-mile south of South Street, just south of Mill Shoals in White County.
According to State Police, the crash happened at approximately 8:25 a.m. when a 2001 red Mack semi-tractor trailer was traveling northbound. The vehicle left the roadway to the right, causing the trailer to separate from the truck and overturn. The truck itself continued off the roadway to the left.
The driver, 65-year-old Ed Titzer of Mill Shoals, was critically injured in the crash. He was airlifted from the scene to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville for treatment of critical injuries.
