A Wayne City man has been formally charged with first-degree murder in connection with the beating death of a Fairfield man earlier this year.
32-year-old Kaine Manuel Nino was arrested by Fairfield Police and Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies on a warrant around 2 p.m. Wednesday and booked into the Wayne County Jail. He faces two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder.
The charges stem from the March 21st incident in the 500 block of SE 3rd Street in Fairfield, where prosecutors allege Nino grabbed 57-year-old Curtis D. Sutton and threw him to the ground, knowing the act created a strong probability of great bodily harm. Sutton later died on March 28th after being transferred from Fairfield Memorial to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville.
Wayne County State’s Attorney Kyle Ellis filed a four-count criminal information in the case. Nino was scheduled to make his first appearance in Wayne County Circuit Court Thursday.
