Clay City Banking Company is warning customers about a scam text message that falsely appears to be from the bank.
The bank says it has been made aware of messages circulating that sometimes contain a link. Officials stress that the bank will never contact customers by text asking for personal information or including a link. Customers are urged not to click on suspicious links or provide personal details.
The National Anti-Scam Centre is also cautioning consumers to be alert for bank impersonation scams. These often involve unsolicited calls, emails, or texts from someone claiming to represent a bank, requesting personal or financial information, transfers of funds, or one-time security codes.
Officials remind customers not to be rushed into sharing sensitive information and to always verify who they are speaking with by calling their financial institution directly.
