FIFTH STREET MARKET IN CARMI TO CLOSE FRIDAY AFTER SALE FINALIZED

By Mark Wells Aug 28, 2025 | 11:56 AM

Carmi will soon see one less grocery option, as Fifth Street Market prepares to close its doors.

Owner Kenny Hargrave confirmed Wednesday afternoon that the sale of the store has been finalized, with the final day of business set for tomorrow (Friday, August 29th).

Hargrave, who has spent decades working in the community, says he is ready to slow down a bit and enjoy time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

While the market is closing, Hargrave isn’t stepping away from food altogether. He plans to continue operating his food truck, catering, and setting up at events. Eventually, he hopes to run catering operations out of a commercial kitchen in a building he owns near Plum Street Pharmacy.

Anyone wishing to schedule catering or check on food truck locations can continue to call 618-384-9153.
